Fashion has spent years trying to solve what happens to products at the end of their life. But circularity can also start much earlier - with helping people make better decisions before a product is purchased in the first place.

That belief sits at the heart of eComID.

Today, product returns remain one of fashion eCommerce's most persistent challenges. When shoppers lack the right information about size, fit or a product before purchasing, the result can be unnecessary orders, unnecessary returns and products moving repeatedly through increasingly complex logistics flows.

eComID is building technology to change that.

By helping fashion brands use their own customer, order and return data more intelligently, eComID enables a more informed shopping experience - designed to help customers make better choices while helping brands reduce avoidable returns.

It is an approach to circularity that starts with the purchase itself.

Recognized by eBay's Circular Fashion Fund

Launched in 2022, eBay's Circular Fashion Fund supports businesses developing solutions to reduce fashion's environmental impact and accelerate the transition towards a circular economy. The program spans solutions across the fashion lifecycle, including resale, repair, recycling and the infrastructure needed to keep products and materials in use for longer.

For 2026, the program expanded into new markets, including the EU, Switzerland and Canada. Eight companies were ultimately selected as global finalists: Circular Sourcing, Ragpiq, Silhouet, Refabric, TRUSS, eComID, It Goes Forward and Trosort.

Each finalist received a $50,000 grant alongside access to workshops, mentorship and eBay's network of circular fashion experts.

For eComID, the recognition goes beyond the funding.

"Being a finalist is a strong signal that the industry is ready to come together - reducing returns, improving sizing consistency, and building a more informed way of shopping."

— Oscar Rundqvist, Co-founder & CEO, eComID

Circularity starts before the return

Much of the conversation around circular fashion has traditionally focused on what happens after a product has been used: how it can be repaired, resold, recycled or given another life.

Those solutions are essential. But there is another opportunity upstream.

What if more of the right products reached the right customers from the beginning?

Reducing unnecessary returns means looking beyond reverse logistics and addressing some of the reasons returns happen in the first place. Better sizing information, more consistent product experiences and smarter use of customer data can help shoppers understand what is likely to work for them before placing an order.

For brands, that creates an opportunity to improve customer experience and economics at the same time. For the wider industry, it can mean fewer unnecessary product movements and a commerce model built around more informed consumption.

That is the system eComID is working to build.

Building better commerce, together

The Circular Fashion Fund brings together companies approaching circularity from different parts of the fashion ecosystem. That breadth matters.

No single technology, brand or business model will make fashion circular. Progress will require better infrastructure across the entire value chain - and greater collaboration between brands, platforms and technology companies.

Being selected as one of the eight finalists reinforces eComID's belief that reducing returns should be part of that conversation.

Because the future of circular fashion is not only about finding better ways to deal with products after they come back.

It is also about creating a better way to shop in the first place.

That is why eComID was built: to fix commerce at its core.
